Dynamic Load Allowance - Canadian Code

Question:
Title: Dynamic Load Allowance

Content
The software is not correctly considering the dynamic load allowance.

I''m using the Canadian Code.

As a simple check, I assign a single axle moving load (say L = 100kN) and user define the DLA to 0.4 for single axle as code specifies.

In the output, I expect 1.4xL to be considered as the static moving load however only L is being considered.

Please advise on this issue. Our company has the full license to your software

Thanks

Answer:
Hello User,
Thanks for writing to us.
For DLA we have two options: Auto or user defined; see below screenshot for the input

DLA used in the moving load analysis as per Canadian code can be checked from Moving load tracer > Detail Result. See the below screenshot.

Hi Techsupport,

Thanks for the reply. I determined that MIDAS does not correctly consider DLA when using the user defined input with the Canadian Code. I’ve attached a simple model above where I ran two vehicle load cases for a single axle truck (user defined vehicle): (1) with the “Auto” input and (2) with “user defined” DLA input where I assume zero. The software outputs the same results for both load cases. Furthermore, I determined that regardless of the values inputted as “user defined” the software will always output the Code specified DLA. i.e. for my example it is 0.4 for a single axle in the Canadian Code.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Hello User,

I think the program is considering the dynamic load allowance correctly.
For a better explanation, I have made a video. link: https://mega.nz/#!0opzXAQZ!QHIacx13BQdMezTAUHkJfd86ZLAKrNZIBVpxob2LXGc
We have checked DLA, using Midas civil 2017(V2.2) version.

kindly reply back if you have any further issues.

Tech Support

Hi Techsupport,

Thanks for the reply. I’ve watched the video and yes I agree that the software indicates that the correct value for DLA is being used in the moving tracer. However, in the “results table” is where the results are the same for both load cases. I’ve attached some screen shots. I’m using Civil 2017 (v1.1).

Thanks,
