Moving Load Analysis

Question:

I have two queries relating to moving load analysis in Midas Civil.
1. Is it possible to create a remaining area with a variable width? 2. I have noticed that the analysis will not run when part of the footpath lane (called ‘FP West’) lies outside of the bridge deck. However, this does not appear to be the case for the other footpath (called ‘FP East’). The lane width of ‘FP East’ is 2.25m, and the offset from the outside beam is only 0.1m, therefore the lane overhangs the edge beam. Yet the analysis still runs. I cannot understand the inconsistency. The error message for ‘FP West’ is as shown below.

Answer:Hello,

Following are the response:
1) Remaining area with variable width - It isn't possible to do this by means of a moving load lane definition. However, this can simply be done by assigning a static load case for the footpath area and this static load case could be combined with the moving load cases in the Load Combinations.
2) Moving Load Analysis error - The error message indicates that traffic lane optimization must be activated for the FP West. When the traffic lane optimization is activated for any lane, the software analyses with 3 vehicle positions transversely in the same lane (Sub_Left, center and Sub_Right). Kindly remove this traffic lane optimization and the analysis should be performed without issue. It seems like this option isn't activated for the FP East lane and hence no error there.
