MIDAS GEN Steel Designer

Question:

I am designing a steel truss and I have assigned user member properties to the bracing elements. When I'm performing the design the yield capacity is taken as zero although i'm using S355 steel grade. The other members that have been assigned a size from the library are designed properly.

Hello,

As shown in the table below, the yield strength fy is specified according to the nominal thickness as per EC3.

In the design report which you sent me, the Fy = 1.000e-004. This is because the thickness of web(=100mm) and flange(=140mm) is over than the maximum thickness in the EC3.
For the thickness over than 80mm, you can design it with "modify steel material" function. Change the code from EN05(S) to None, and fill in the value. Please refer to the below image.
