ERROR NORM IS NaN or INFINITE

Question:

Hello,

I am facing a problem with my model.

At the beginning when I created the model , It was running smooth and no errors . However, after I added the CSA and composite stage analysis the model refuse to run and give the following message.

ERROR NORM IS NaN or INFINITE

Can you please assist in this matter

Answer:

I figure out what is the problem but I could not solve it.

the problem is, the elastic links that connects the beams to the pier head does not appear in the stages. Therefore, this cause the great movement of the nodes.

Can you please suggest what to do to make the elastic link appear in the CS .

Hello,

Good job figuring that out!  Kindly refer the image below.
Also, the age of the elements activated in first stage was 0 days.  That isn't right.  I propose modifying it as shown below.

Moreover, the free DOF of elastic links should be given nominal values like 10kN-m to avoid abnormal deformations.  Once this is done, the behavior would be as expected.  The modified model is attached for review.  Kindly let us know if further assistance would be required.
