Hi,
The mother element is determined as the element that includes each embedded truss element NODE within itself. Thus, in the image below, there are two mother elements. Only the mother elements have the connectivity with embedded element. There is no connectivity with other elements.
If you divide the embedded element more as shown below, then six mother elements will be generated as highlighted in yellow. Then, whole embedded element will be connected to the six mother elements.
Therefore, it is recommended to divide embedded element so that mother elements will include at least one node of the divided elements. In old FEA, the reinforcement is automatically divided at the intersection with mother elements. This is on the development wish list.
