Question:
Hello,

I''m doing a dynamic analysis and am trying to figure out how to enter Nodal masses.
My model is in units of kN and m. If I have a mass of 10,000 kg to add to a node, how would I convert that into kN/g?

Thanks,

Answer:Hi,

The mass [weight * (time2/length)] is the weight divided by the acceleration of gravity.
[mass = weight / g (accelerationofgravity)]

10,000kg = 10,000kgf/g(m/s2) = 98(kN) / 9.8(m/s2) = 10 kN/g
So, enter 10 for nodal mass value.

Thank you.
